We are Clint and Susan Woody, and our journey together began at the United States Military Academy at West Point, where we met as young cadets, united by a shared call to serve something greater than ourselves.

I (Clint) spent over 20 years in the U.S. Army as a Special Operations Aviation officer, flying more than 200 combat missions as an MH-47G Chinook pilot and Air Mission Commander. My career carried me to some of the world’s most dangerous and demanding places, supporting Special Forces, SEALs, Rangers, and special mission units. Every mission came with a heavy weight — the lives of my teammates, the success of the operation, and the people depending on us.

Susan proudly served as a U.S. Army aviation officer and combat pilot, leading over 150 missions with courage, precision, and determination. She earned the title of Air Mission Commander and was consistently recognized for her leadership under pressure. When we began our family, Susan made the deeply selfless decision to leave active service to raise our five children — Blake (16), Dylan (15), Haley (11), Paige (9), and Avery (6) — holding everything together at home while I continued to deploy and serve.

On December 20, 2015, I was wounded in action — a moment that forever changed the course of our family’s journey. Today, we live in Tennessee, where I work in Oak Ridge and Susan continues to pour her heart into our home and community.

We are profoundly grateful to Front Line Gardens for creating a healing space for us — a place where we can breathe, reflect, and reconnect as a family. This garden is more than just a gift; it is a tribute to every veteran, every spouse, every child, and every sacrifice made in service to this country. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
